We are so excited about our wedding, and we are so excited that you have made it to our blog! There's lots of information here - hotels, websites, map, and much more. We hope this will help those of you making the trip to NoLA a little easier! If you have any questions you can email jake at jakemcglothin@gmail.com or robin at moore.robin@gmail.com.
The weekend of our wedding there is a French Quarter Festival, we think it is the best festival in New Orleans mainly because it is free. It is located along the Mississippi in the French Quarter - 3 days of music and good food(you have to pay for the food) - Friday, Saturday & Sunday. There is a link to the website to find out the schedule of events on the blog. Because of this festival there will be more of a demand for hotels.
Booking a hotel - we suggest staying in the French Quarter/Downtown New Orleans or you could stay on St. Charles in Uptown - there is a Street Car that runs on St. Charles that goes into the French Quarter. We have put together a list of some possible hotels.
Let me (robin) interject here for a moment to clarify what uptown is, because as most people would assume it would be North of the French Quarter/Downtown, that's not the case. Uptown is up river - and since the Mississippi winds through the New Orleans area it is actually West of the French Quarter. Jake and I live across the river in an area called Algiers Point it is the point of land directly across from the French Quarter. There is a free pedestrian ferry to take us back and forth! Audubon Park (location of ceremony & reception) is located about 5 1/2 miles outside of the French Quarter in Uptown, it is on Magazine Street across from the Audubon Zoo. We will arrange transportation for those who will need it to/from the wedding.
If you are flying in, you will fly into the New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
I think that is enough information for now!
